Research Interests

My current research focuses on sexuality, youth, and gender fluidity and crossings in Early modern French literature and thought. My master’s thesis, « Une certaine mollesse… où nous retombons toujours » ; la notion de ‘trans’ et l’expérience pré-transgenre chez les personnages secondaires dans l’Histoire de la Marquise-Marquis de Banneville, dealt with gender fluidity, cross-dressing and what I call a pre-transgender experience in a novella first published in the early French periodical, the Mercure Galant, in 1695.

Before moving to Pittsburgh, I received a BA in 2015 with a double concentration in French and German at Montana State University, during which time I studied abroad for a year in France, and taught French and English for a period of two and a half weeks in the small village of Zouiat Ahansal in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. I received my Masters here at Pitt in French language and literature Spring of 2019.

My other research interests include manifestations of ‘monstrosity’ and its movement from the body to the mind, depictions of Woman and their intersections with Queerness, and the construction of Nation through literature.
