Funding For Reading Groups

The Early Modern Worlds Initiative offers funding to cover the costs of books for reading groups organized by Pitt graduate students who wishes to explore a theme pertaining to the early modern period and not covered by an existing graduate seminar. Applications should consist of a paragraph on the theme that the reading group wishes to explore, the books to be read, their price, and the desired number of copies requested. EMW will cover costs up to $250 per group. At the end of the year of the awarded grant (April 30), the group should submit a one-paragraph report on the activities of the reading group and names and affiliations of participants. 

For the academic year 2023/24, EMW will sponsor up to four reading groups. Applications should be emailed to Pernille Røge (per20@pitt.edu) and are reviewed by a review committee on a rolling basis. Applications for this academic year will not be accepted after March 31, 2024.
